Finally got out and running. I braced my knee just to be on the safe side. I’m not 100% sure I needed it but I was worried to get out there without it. I figured if it turned out to be more of a hinderence than a help, I would just take it off and carry it. But I ended up keeping it on for the mileage.
The dynamic was a little off but so I was I. I had a long day at the office after a light night at the ballgame. I just wasn’t feeling social but I needed to run. I thought this might jumpstart me back on track.
It was a solid 12 minute pace which is the fastest we’ve done on a Thursday night in awhile. We slowed a little when Marilyn caught her toe on a heaved section of the sidewalk and literally got knocked out of her shoes and onto the ground. She scraped her knee pretty good but there weren’t any breaks and sprains. But we kept going-I told Marilyn she looked like a bad ass running with a bloody scraped knee.
I will admit the sound of a runner hitting the sidewalk is something I hate to hear. It sounds chills down my spine. It definitely stays with you.
Even with that and a less than fantastic start, it was overall a nice run. Just what I needed to get myself back in the swing of things.
